How My App Dev Company Navigated Changes [Update]

Tell us about what you’ve been up to! Has the business been growing?
The past year has been particularly challenging for the software development industry, with the rise of AI and the pandemic-inflated tech bubble bursting, and lots of companies affected to the point of having to layoff people. In our case, we did not have massive layoffs, however our team shrank due to natural attrition, some projects being stopped, and a change in our hiring strategy. We could see that the demand for mobile development services has declined, while web development services have become more popular again, similar to how the market behaved before Covid-19 hit.
However, I believe that our company, Wolfpack Digital, did really well under the circumstances, and we were happy to also receive a Webby award in NYC last year in the Responsible AI category. On a personal level, I was happy to receive the Central European Startup Award in the "Ecosystem Hero of the Year" category in Bratislava in early 2024, recognising my involvement (with Wolfpack Digital and outside of the company) in helping the entrepreneurial ecosystem develop.
Going back to the company and our services, digitalisation and digital product development are still very much needed. However, the lean approach, focused on true value creation and solid ROI, has become the norm. This is something I am very happy about, as I draw motivation from working in such a climate, which makes for professionalism re-becoming centre-stage! We have diversified the industries and the types of projects we work on, and this has brought a huge plus. Adaptability became crucial in the past year, and we could also see an opportunity here - companies willing to become more efficient and productive by embracing new AI-powered tools have the upper hand, so we decided to invest in this transformation of our delivery processes and skills, and so far it seems like this decision is paying off, as we are starting 2025 on a positive note. Our company did not grow last year, however we remained profitable, which was our goal.
We spent the last couple of years investing in growing our leadership team and our managerial skills and processes so as to become more resilient, and also so that I could take a step back and grow our family. Adrian (my husband and ex-CTO) and I became co-CEOs for the company a couple of years back, and we've just welcome our beloved son in our lives in January 2025. Funny part is that Wolfpack Digital turned just 10 years old in the exact month our son was born. Seeing the company doing well with less operational intervention from our side in the past weeks and months feels like a wonderful achievement, which came after preparing the ground for it well, and we are grateful for everyone on our team for making it possible.
Also, we are deeply grateful for our wonderful clients who keep choosing and recommending us, and we are looking forward to a year focused on value creation and work-life integration!
