About The Business

What problem is TicketRev solving?

Fans are seeking an easily accessible and convenient platform to purchase event tickets.

“Seventy-eight percent of fans find concert and sports tickets to be too expensive, and 64% of inventory on the secondary market goes unsold or is fire-sold at the last second.” — Jason Shatsky (Source)

Idea

How did Jason Shatsky get the idea for TicketRev?

Jason Shatsky conceived the idea for TicketRev from his experiences as a teenager and college student. While running a sneaker resale business, he saw a better way to trade high-demand, limited-quantity goods.

As a college student, he loved attending concerts and sports events but found tickets often overpriced. This frustration led him to imagine a platform where fans could bid for tickets at their preferred prices and locations, and sellers could accept these offers.

Thus, TicketRev was born—a reverse ticket marketplace that allows fans to find cheaper event tickets and helps sellers liquidate unsold inventory.

How TicketRev Works

Build

How did Jason Shatsky build the initial version of TicketRev?

As a first-time entrepreneur still in college, Shatsky didn’t have a ton of upfront capital to hire on a traditional development team or technical co-founder to launch his idea. While exploring his options, someone referred him to Airdev (and the concept of no-code) to help build the initial version of his product.

They initially launched the MVP in two months. The original version of TicketRev was a rather scrappy design, but it was enough to get off the ground and test the viability of our concept.

From there, they continued testing and iterating by collecting as much data and feedback as possible from their earliest users. Eventually, they raised the pre-seed round and launched the next version of their product, which significantly helped gain traction.

Growth

What is the growth strategy for TicketRev?

Jason acquired initial customers through direct sales targeting event organizers throughout South and Central Florida.

Pricing

How does TicketRev price their products?

TicketRev does not charge buyers a fee. Instead, they use an incremental commission scale that rewards their frequent sellers.
