Hello again! Remind us who you are and what business you started.

My name is Noah Labhart - I’m a startup founder, CTO, and podcast host of the up-and-coming startup show, Code Story. On the show, I interview tech visionaries, uncovering the gritty details in building the next big digital thing. I've interviewed startup CTOs, CEOs, founding engineers, and tech visionaries about how they built their MVPs, scaled them, matured them, and built the teams to support their startups.

We are currently 219 episodes in and just started Season 6. We've interviewed individuals from digital startups of all shapes and sizes, and have amazing guests lined up for the podcast this season, along with incredible sponsors in fintech, SaaS, and many more.

Tell us about what you’ve been up to! Has the business been growing?

Since we last updated Starter Story, we’ve released an additional 131 episodes and have grown the show tremendously. We have over 10,000 subscribers now, and each episode commands 2500 downloads in the first 30 days.

Keep going. Don’t stop.

Overall, the show has been downloaded nearly 300k times - nearly 4 times the prior download total. We’ve shifted to full Season sponsors, which helps us to serve a smaller niche of sponsors, specific to our audience type, along with increasing our revenue per sponsor.

What have been your biggest lessons learned in the last year?

We’ve reinforced the fact that every download counts on a podcast, and you have to work for every subscriber. We’ve also learned the value of spending money to grow our user base, strategically on the most appropriate platforms. Not all of them are created equal, and we’ve run the gamut to see what works best for the Code Story podcast.

What’s in the plans for the upcoming year, and the next 5 years?

The plans are to continue to grow the subscribers and downloads as much as possible. I would like to get to 20k downloads per episode, and in doing so, we could command higher sponsorship fees, which would fuel the growth of a production and marketing team for the podcast.

Have you read any good books in the last year?

I’m into fiction… I’ve enjoyed the Mortal Engines series, though it's not new.

Advice for other entrepreneurs who might be struggling to grow their business?

Keep going. Don’t stop. I can’t stress this enough… though the projects may change, and you may pivot ideas or approaches - as long as you don’t give up, you will succeed at some level and will be happy with the results. Keep going!

Are you looking to hire for certain positions right now?

I will be interested in hiring a jr. podcast editor familiar with Logic for editing later on this year. At the same time, I will be looking for someone to own the promotion for the podcast - social media, blog posts, email newsletters, etc. These are the primary needs at the moment.
