Hello again! Remind us who you are and what business you started.

Hi. I am Sajin Rajan. CFO of Epixel Solutions

We have been serving the direct selling industry with innovative tech solutions that are already transforming businesses today. Way back in 2008, we started with a single flagship product, Epixel MLM Software, and now we have a line of products that distinguish us from the industry rest.

Today, Epixel has established its presence across 7 countries with a skilled team of 150+ employees.

Tell us about what you’ve been up to. Has the business been growing?

Epixel has been growing ever since!

Business is always a thrilling roller coaster ride. The twists and turns never stop. Every year is a new year in business. New experiences and new learnings.

Having already extended our brand presence in the ecommerce and direct sales domain, we are now planning to extend our services into the IT services industry with a commitment to serve the industry with our diverse technical expertise.

We had been experimenting with innovative ideas, and technological advancements in every way possible. Epixel MLM Software has undergone a tremendous transformation to accommodate the new and upcoming challenges the industry is facing.

We have been watching our clients grow, the hiccups they are facing, and trying to solve their problems in more efficient ways. This approach has also accelerated our customer satisfaction level and we are more than grateful to all our customers for their love and support.

We received ISO 27000:2013 certification for advancements in information security management systems. Epixel also won many awards and accolades for outstanding product quality and technical excellence. In 2022, SoftwareSuggest conferred Epixel with “Highest Satisfaction Products” award for its continuous commitment to ensuring customer satisfaction.

Epixel has also been prolific in providing legitimate growth opportunities to our clients as well as their salesforce. We have devised curated solutions that would securely take their business through the legal and compliance side of the business. We have extended the scope of our product in addressing the challenges faced by entrepreneurs, distributors, customers, and the channel as a whole.

With our team growing bigger, we have opened a new development center in Cochin, India. We have been extending beyond our capabilities in providing an awesome work environment for our team. We concentrate on building an inclusive work culture that supports our team to maintain a perfect work-life balance.

We have also extended our territory to the GCC region to learn more about the market and serve our customers in the middle east and Europe.

We also have other projects in the pipeline. We hope the onset of this new year will prove fruitful to our objectives.

What have been your biggest challenges in the last year?

The pandemic undoubtedly had given us a setback for a while. We had set a high priority on the safety of our team while also ensuring that our customer demands were met. Increasing customer demands, unavailability of resources, and to top it all, the sanctions imposed by the government sent tantrums all over the business in 2021.

However, 2022 was quite kind to us with the pandemic receding slowly. What held us steady was the impeccable commitment of our team members and the unending support of our customers.

The Company also witnessed “Great Resignation”. We would rather consider it a reshuffling of talents we already had in exchange for fresher and more experienced team players. At one time, we had been extensively hiring but now the team looks more stable and efficient.

The on-and-off remote working schedules made collaboration a little bit tougher but our committed team got us unexpectedly well through the troubles.

What have been your biggest lessons learned in the last year?

Business is always a thrilling roller coaster ride. The twists and turns never stop. Every year is a new year in business. New experiences and new learnings.

Each challenge we overcame taught us a new lesson and it was a time of self-revelation and discovery. We saw long and fluctuating strides in client behavior and the market itself. Just like we had predicted in our previous interview with you, the market was never the same. We had to design new strategies for product development and marketing. The constant change in customer demands kept us challenged as well as excited.

The talents we had relied heavily upon left us unexpectedly. We struggled a little. Acquiring new ones and molding them to suit our requirements took time and resources. We implemented flexible training strategies that were light on them and helped in the quick absorption of newly acquired talents.

For businesses still struggling harder to overcome these struggles we would like to pen down the few things we consider had helped us overcome the challenges.

  • Establish open and transparent communication channels for both our team and clients.
  • Being quick and adaptable is crucial in taking your business further.
  • Deliver an incredible brand experience that helps people move ahead in their lives and career.
  • Planning can get you through all complicated situations. So, plan. Plan it right.
  • Do your research before jumping into decisions.

What’s in the plans for the upcoming year, and the next 5 years?

We have a lot of things in mind. Preparing to enter the IT services industry is quite a bit of a challenge. We will be working hard on that. The rewards and loyalty industry is atop our list. We have already built the resource for the projects now all we have to do is dive full-on into the industry. This is our long-term goal.

In the short term, we are focusing on exceeding our customers' expectations with innovative and sustainable technology derivatives. We had been investing our time in the betterment of the industry—an industry devoid of scams and allegations. For the most of it, we were successful in helping our customers leverage our software to detect flaws or breaches in their compensation and compliance. We are still working to improve the system with advanced AI that would present our clients with a secure and competitive edge in the marketplace.

Moving forward in 2023 and looking into the future, we foresee the impact we would make in the industries we are stepping into. We strive for perfection and utmost customer satisfaction in everything we do despite the challenges and constraints.

What’s the best thing you read in the last year?

I am not much of a reader but love reading books that help me in my journey. “Thinking the Future” by Clem Sunter and Mitch Ilbury is an exceptional book delivering extraordinary concepts about business. The book is not about adapting to changing conditions but about establishing yourself in a dynamic world and business landscape.

The book encapsulates the art of decision-making from the experience of many popular thinkers. Leveraging scenario planning, the book helps us how not to make mistakes while doing business. It is all about taking your business into the future in these relatively unpredictable times in a “complex and interconnected world”.

Advice for other entrepreneurs who might be struggling to grow their business?

Patience, perseverance, and dedication. That has gotten me all along. Nothing comes to us in the flash of a second or snap of the finger. Time perfects everything. Take your time and make your stride. You will surely achieve the results.

Remember, the world has changed, your customers have, and your market is constantly evolving. Same strategies that worked the previous year might not work well this year. Analyze the pulse of the market and adapt to it constructively.

There is no one-time solution in business. Change is constant. Whether it be your customers, the market, or your business itself. Analyze, understand, and tap yourself into designing appropriate solutions for each evolving situation.
