We've interviewed thousands of successful founders at Starter Story and asked what advice they would give to entrepreneurs who are just getting started.

Here's the best advice we discovered for starting an online vape shop:

#1: Jeremy Ong, founder of Vape Club:

We chatted with with Jeremy, founder of Vape Club ($60K/month). In our interview, Jeremy says:

I had tiger parents who always asked me to study hard, get good grades, get a good job and retire at 60. I’ve always been skeptical about this as my dad was not particularly happy and he was always worried about money.

Additionally:

I didn’t have any working capital to buy inventory, so I employed the “sell first, worry later” concept. Not 100% ethical, but I had no choice - what better way to validate the idea other than actually selling it?

Further:

Know your weaknesses and don’t stinge to get help to shore up those weaknesses.

#2: David Mason, founder of Vape and Juice:

We chatted with with David, founder of Vape and Juice ($300K/month). In our interview, David says:

No sooner had I been handed the website log-in, did I realize I couldn’t advertise vape kits or e-liquids on Google and Facebook. Lesson 1 - do some prior research!

Additionally:

I’ve realized the importance of getting rid of bad apples, there are certain things you can’t live with for too long in your business without it destroying your hard work.

Further:

If what you are doing isn’t going to offer people something better than that which already exists, you’re just a ‘me-too’.
